Microfilm / Microfiche Scanning & Digitisation

Aperture Cards, Fiche, Comm, Combi, Roll Film or Jackets, all formats digitised to searchable PDF files.

The cost to maintain records within the correct environment and the equipment to view and print from Microfilm, is often costly and hard to come by.

We tailor the service to meet your individual needs.

We can supply archive boxes for your team to load, or our team can load the boxes directly from your existing storage systems - shelfs, filing cabinets or archive room.

You will be assigned one of our project managers (PM) with 24/7 direct access to them.

If you or your colleagues require access to the film(s) once we have them, simply contact the PM who will arrange digital or hard copy versions to be sent to you ASAP.

1 - Expertise

The SMcP Digital history goes back to TR McPherson Microfilm, one of Scotland's largest Microfilm service bureaus - established 1972. Today, we continue to maintain and preserve records produced by three generations of the McPherson family.

2 - Scanning / Digitisation

We only use market leading high volume production microfilm scanners.

All records are digitise to grayscale format to ensure high quality images. Select either PDF, TIFF or Jpeg file formats.

3 - Data Entry / Indexing / Naming

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is standard.

Tailored naming conventions to ensure you can retrieve the information quickly and accurately.

Meta Data, CSV files and Data Extraction to ensure you can upload the data in to whatever your chosen electronic filing system.

4 - Cloud data hosting

Your completed scans and meta data, will be returned to you via our secure file transfer cloud system.

What happens next, is tailored to meet your needs.

Once you have received your scans, we will then hold the originals for a minimum of 4 weeks. Allowing you and your team time to review details, quality and accuracy.

We will then contact you with some choices.

Confidential Shredding

We will securely shred all originals to industry standard BS EN 15713. A certificate of destruction will be provided to you.

Archive Storage

Should you wish to retain the originals for longer, you can arrange to continue to store within our own onsite secure warehouse facility.

Microfilm Returned

We can return the original files to you.
